Juno, a 12 meter sloop, is in need of crew for the trip from South Africa to Brazil, continuing on to the Caribean and the USA. Currently Juno is in Durban but should leave the next week, weather permitting, for Capetown.
No experience is required, but crew must be keen on embracing the cruising lifestle including watchstanding and routine boat chores, not the least of which is cooking. Age and gender are not specific issues so long as the individual is agile and physically and emotionally ready for the sailing experience.
I ask all crew to contribute for food and operating expenses, currently costs are running around $450 USD per month per person which includes a place to sleep, food and fuel (as well as the opportunity too do the work to keep the boat neat, clean and orderly). It does not include alcohol or events ashore. Crew also must pay costs to and from the embarkation port and be responsible for their passport, visa and similar items.
Since I left Australia four years ago I have had a wide variety of crew, aged 18-68, from professional skippers to novice sailors who did not know how to cook. Most vrew have been on board for 3-4 weeks but some have stayed for 4.5 months with some novices gaining paying jobs on super yachts along the way once they gained experience.
If you are interested in getting miles at sea or finding out what comprises the cruising lifestyle, let me hear from you.
Regards
