Posted - 07 Sep 2007 : 15:42:30 Can anyone out there give me some advice on sailing a motorised cat from Durban to Seychelles? We are almost but not quite complete landlubbers and we will need advice on training, licensing and anything else of importance. |

Posted - 08 Sep 2007 : 12:54:38 Hi, The logical route from Durban to the Seychelles would be through the Mozambique Channel. Initially leaving Durban. motoring close to the S A coastline, to keep out of the strength of the Agulhas Current, then crossing torwards Madagascar, and favouring that coast, to keep out of the south flowing Mozambique Current. Be aware though, of the South Indian Ocean Cyclone Season, that extends from mid November to mid April. Regarding licensing (assuming it is a S A registered vessel), check out the website of S A Maritime and Safety at www.samsa.org.za . If you need advice regarding Sail training Schools in South Africa, please contact me directly. Hope this helps. Good luck with your venture Regards, Tony
